Energy Smart: General Electric – 25,000 Hours LifeSpan LED Light Bulb...

A light bulb with 17 years lifespan? General Electric has recently introduced their new nine-watt powered LED light bulb that is designed to last up to 25,000 operational hours, delivering up to 450 lumens brightness, plus it contains no mercury. According to GE’s news source, the light bulb’s lifespan is about 25 times of regular bulb. This Smart LED bulb capable of saving up to 77 percent of energy over a 40-watt incandescent bulb. However, base on some rough calculation, if we divide 25,000 hours by 17 years, by 12 months and again by 30 days, we will approximate get an operational hours of 4 hours per day. This is a questionable figure as the led bulb should not last up to 17 years under a normal 8 hours per day of household’s usage. The rough calculation we take is presuming we are using the LED bulb starting from 18.00pm to 06.00am per day. Being green and environmental friendly, would you get the Energy Smart LED bulb once it is available? Tell us what you think.

10 watts = USD49.-
